The Colours/Standards and Guidons of the Swedish Armed Forces have a distinct Heraldic flavour since nearly all include some heraldic device from the Province/City ect. from which the unit takes it name. To this are in many cases attaced Battle Honours usualy on a small chief. The Colour of the Field varies but units belonging to the Lifeguards has White Fields, Air Force units have Blue Fields and Coastal Artillery (now Amphibious Corps) have Red Fields.

Some examples,

The Life Guards, created in 2000 by merging the Royal Svea Life Guards (I1 or Infantry Rgt. No. 1) with the Royal Life Guards Dragoons (K1 or Cavalry Regiment No.1) have the regimental Colour of I1 and the regimental Standard of K1.

Both are White and shows the large arms of Sweden without mantling and with a Yellow Royal Crown with red cap in each corner.

The former I1 Colour has the following Battle honours surrounding the arms: Befrielsekriget 1521, Rhen 1631, Lützen 1632, Warszawa 1656, Tåget över Bält 1658, Halmstad 1676, Lund 1676, Landskrona 1677, Narva 1700, Düna 1701, Kliszow 1702, Holovczyn 1708 (with a Royal Crown, denoting that the King personaly led the Regiment in this Battle) och Svensksund 1790. Attached to the pole are two Streamers divided into Blue and Yellow the Swedish National Colours (this is a feature common to almost every Colour). The finial consists of a hollow spike inwhich the Monogram of the Monarch are to bee seen (also this is a common feature to nearly all Swedish Colours and Standards).

The Standard of the former K1 displays its Battle Honours on the reverse side and flanked in each corner by three open Yellow Crowns two over one. The Battle Honours are:Lützen 1632, Oldendorf 1633, Wittstock 1636, Leipzig 1642, Warszawa 1656, Fredriksodde 1656, Tåget över Bält 1658, Halmstad 1676, Lund 1676 (beneath a Royal Crown), Landskrona 1677, Düna 1701, Kliszow 1702, Pultusk 1703, Holovczyn 1708, Hälsingborg 1710 och Svensksund 1790. The Standard has White fringe and Yellow cords and tassels and no Streamers.

HM the King presented I1 with it latest Colour on 30 April 2000 at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. He also presented K1 with its latest Standard on 12 april 1994 at the regimental Barracks.

The Infantry Regiments has Colours according to these general principles:

The main motive is the arms of the Province from which the Regiment takes its name, with a Border along the upper side of the Colour inscribed with Battle Honours and in some cases other emblems.

The same basical principles holds true for Armoured Regiments (who to a large extent are former Infantry Regiments) and for Cavalry Regiments.

Some examples:

The Colours of the Royal Jämtland Ranger Regiment (I5):

On a Blue Cloth the provincial badge of Jämtland a White Elk passant attacked on its back by a rising Falcon and in the front by a rising Dog, both Yellow; all armed Red. On a White border at the upper side of the Colour the Battle Honour "Nowodwor 1655" in Blue.
This Colour was presented by HM the King at the regimental Barracks in Östersund on 24th august 1996.

The Regiment's Ranger Battalion are allowed to use the Colour presented to the former Jämtland Ranger Brigade at the same date as the Colour of the Regiment. It is nearly identical except that on the "Battle Honour Border" are placed an flying Blue Eagle closest to the staff.

The Colour of the Royal Norrbotten Regiment(I19) is as follows:
On a blue cloth powdered with sixpointed Yellow Stars a running White Reindeer armed and langued Red. On a White Border on the upper side of the Colour blue battle honours and close to the staff the provincial badge of Lappland a Red Savage with Green Garlands on head and around loins; clutching a Yellow Club on right shoulder (a legacy of the former Lappland brigade). The Battle honours are:
Landskrona 1677, Düna 1701, Kliszow 1702, Fraustadt 1706, Malatitze 1708 and Strömstad 1717.

It was presented by HM the King at the regimental Barracks in Boden on 27th August 2001.
